HOW CAN YOU TELL IF YOUR PAIN IS A SYMPTOM OF A LARGER POSTURAL DYSFUNCTION?
|
Stand in front of a mirror:
Look at your feet. Do they turn out? In? Is one more forward? Look at your hips. Look at your hips by focusing on your waistband. Does it look like one hip is higher? Is one closer to the mirror? Look at your shoulders. Is one higher or does one appear closer to the mirror? Now stand on each leg one at a time.
Can you stand more easily on one leg than the other?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are showing the signs of misalignment. Your body is revealing the wear of transferring the workload to other parts of the body.
As your Posture Coach I can assess your posture and assign you a personal plan that can strip away your pain and return you to full function.

| This simplified illustration of the
human form represents proper vertical alignment of the main weight
bearing joints: the shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles. It demonstrates
the Egoscue principle that the human body is intended to stand upright,
bear the load of its own weight, and rely on joints that function at
right angles.

If the weight-bearing
joints deviate from a 90-degree angle, the body compensates to maintain
balance. Such deviations from the diagram are examples of
dysfunctions that are the source of most pain. When the body is
properly aligned, however, it is positioned in a pain
free structure such that:
The head is centered over the shoulders The shoulders sit directly over the level hips The hips are firmly planted over symmetrical knee The knees and ankles are aligned with feet pointed straight forward.
